A Retaining Wall Doesn't Have to Look Basic

Retaining walls have a simple purpose, but that doesn't mean they have to look plain. In fact, if a retaining wall is facing an area that is often viewed, it's best to design it so it will enhance the appearance of the rest of the property or blend in with a landscape. Retaining walls can be made made out of wall blocks or poured concrete. 

Of course, if your retaining wall is not facing a direction where it will be seen, there is no need for any fancy cosmetic effects. Then, you can feel free to simply have plain poured concrete retaining wall installed. This is a low-cost option since it involves less labor, but it provides excellent durability and strength. You'll save even more money as the years go on since concrete does not rot and doesn't attract termites. Make sure your concrete retaining wall has the proper drainage installed, or it will visibly crack with the buildup of hydrostatic pressure.
